(Beijing, September 14) The "Good Luck Beijing" 2007 Beijing BG Triathlon World Cup is to open on September 15 and various preparations are underway. At a pre-tournament press conference held this afternoon, Jin Hui, director of the Changping Triathlon Venue, gave a brief introduction of the venue construction, competition management, reception service, security, transportation and environment construction.

According to Jin, as one of the "Good Luck Beijing" Sport Events, the 2007 Beijing BG Triathlon World Cup will adopt the route and format for Olympic triathlon competition, and the event will help test the overall venue operation according to Olympic standards. By September 13, a total of 340 participants from 37 countries and regions had registered for the event, among whom 170 are athletes who will take part in the two-day competition. The event organizing committee has set up a special reception center and recruited 786 volunteers to provide athletes, officials and the press with various services wherever necessary.

The venue was built according to the requirements of the Olympic Triathlon competition and the International Triathlon Union. The event organizing committee has also worked out an appropriate program on event operation, competition management as well as provisions for emergencies, and arranged for the athletes to have pre-tournament training to adapt themselves better to the venue. 

Security measures have been organized and carried out in strict accordance with the Olympic mode, with designated hotels and competition venue closed for event operation on September 8 and 12 respectively. The supporting facilities for transportation around the venues have been further improved, with roads and parking lots specially assigned to ensure the smooth going of the event. At the same time, trees and flowers have been planted along the competition course, lighting facilities have been reinstalled and standard bilingual guide signs have been set up, all helping create an excellent environment for the tournament.
