On the occasion of the opening of “Good Luck, Beijing” 2007 Beijing BG Triathlon World Cup, I would like to be on the behalf of the China Triathlon Sports Association, to extend our warm welcome to all the participating athletes, coaches, officials, technical officials and ITU VIPs.

It is the 20th year since the triathlon sport has been developed in China. Until today, there are more and more people taking part in this challenging sport in which people continually overcome their physical ability and spirit. I believe through this event even more fans will devote their attention and enthusiasm to the triathlon sport.

This event gives the opportunity for athletes home and abroad to communicate with each other and raise competition level and obtain the qualification for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. This event also could promote the development and popularity of the triathlon sport in China.

I would take this opportunity to extend my sincere gratitude to ITU, BOCOG and the people’s government of Changping District, Beijing which have devoted their great support and help to the preparation of the event. Meanwhile, I would appreciate the hard work made by the LOC staff, volunteers and press. I believe with our joint effort, the event will be a great success.

I wish all the athletes would display the triathlon spirit and win good records in the competition. I wish all the friends an enjoyable stay in Beijing.
